Message from the President

Dear Members of the Pacific Ski Club & Dear Friends;

Due to the ongoing medical emergency created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the input provided by you our members, the concern over your safety, and the leeway provided by a Decision of the Registrar of Companies, B.C., the Executive of the Pacific Ski Club held a meeting this morning, September 13th, 2020 at which a number of motions were passed.

Please accept this as the official notice that we voted to:

  • Cancel the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Pacific Ski Club scheduled for this Thursday, September 17th, 2020 with that rescheduled AGM to be held no later than November 1st, 2021, as per the Registrar’s Decision, and that the members of the Pacific Ski Club are to be notified of the date of that AGM at least 28 days prior to any such meeting.
  • Cancel the 45th Anniversary Party, scheduled to coincide with our AGM and set for this Thursday, September 17th, and that this anniversary party will be held separate to any future AGM at a date when it is safe to hold any such larger gathering.  The members and friends of the Pacific Ski Club will be notified well in advance of the date, time and location of this rescheduled gala event.
  • That in lieu of the cancelled AGM and 45 year Anniversary Party, we will hold a much more casual monthly meeting where some members of the Pacific Ski Club’s executive will be at The Pint Public House this Thursday, September 17th from  7:30 pm onward to answer any of your questions, sign you up for our Banff Ski Trip in 2021 (check out our web site), the Golf Tournament (more information on our web site), and ski trips to Whistler/ Blackcomb for the 2020/ 2021 ski season.
Our 2020/ 2021 ski season and our future:

Many of us have a credit for the shortened Whistler 2019/ 20 ski season, and we intend to provide 2 or 3 night U-Drive trips to Whistler, possibly along with our Sister Club, the Victoria Alpine Ski Club, so that you can enjoy that which we all love, the fresh powder snow, the ambience of  the village and its mountains, and the outdoor experience for which we joined this club.

For those of you who told us they could not see their way to come down to our AGM and the 45th Anniversary Party September 17th, 2020, we will re-schedule these events once we know that most of us will feel comfortable to attend and that it is safer to once more go to these social functions.

For those of you who were comfortable with the safety arrangements, I'll see you on Thursday at:
The Pint Public House, 455 Abbott Street
Time Changed to: 7:30 pm. - Bar must close by 10 pm.
Date: September 17th, 2020
Remember to keep safe by Social Distancing contact me by phone or e-mail for your confirmation number and table number --No table hopping.  Come on down and check out our new location, The Pint Public House, but get there around 8 p.m. (I’ll be there by 7:30).  We will still have our own private table and area.

To ensure we have space, just reply to

Canadian author Anton Von Stefan's new book, A Very Strange Christmas!, is written for children from age 6 to 106 !

The tale within this book has the cozy fireside feeling of all great storytelling coupled with the magic of Christmas Past.  I especially liked the 'come closer' cadence of the narrator, the story telling within the storytelling.

The tale affirms a very cold 'out-side' but it's warm 'in here' allure.

This story could be read or recited in an hour being the perfect catalyst for gathering a group of friends and family then regaling them with the old fashioned art of live oral story telling.

Thanks for the magic.
